When did you start riding trials?

1955

How did you get into riding trials?

All my friends were riding so I joined in.

What was your first trials bikes?

At 16 I had a 1954 Dot

What achievements have you had in trials?

I rode for the Dot motorcycle factory from 1959 to 1969.

I was North East Trials Champion. I also won the Loch Lomond National and was 8 times Lion 2 Day winner.

Who do you look up to in the trials world?

Sammy Miller and Martin Lampkin

Is there a major trials event that you enjoy?

Scott Trial, SSDT, Lambshield

Is there a trials event you have not ridden which you would really like to?

No. I did all I wanted to do.

What is your favourite memory from trials riding?

It was all good. I wish I could start again.

For ten years I was a professional speedway rider. From 1962 I rode for Middlesborogh and when that closed in 1964 I rode for Halifax. In 1968 I toured Australia then New Zealand in 1969.

I broke my leg at Poole which ended my speedway career.
