Well, what a weekend!
A pre-trial course inspection revealed that sheep and cows enjoy moving section and course flags. With the help of 7 observes/marshalls we managed to get the course ready for the trial to start.
A bonus was the weather, which was even kinder to us than yesterday. That was great as the riders had 2 laps of an 11 mile course to navigate themselves round and complete 20 sections. The sections were over some varying terrain of gullies, rivers, streams, rock gardens and quarries.
Sections 1 and 2 were close to the start then there was a long ride out to section 3. Sections 4 and 5 were in a gully and sections 6, 7 and 8 were in a river. Sections 9, 10 and 11 were hillside rock gardens. Section 12 was a river section which crossed the valley. Section 13 was a little gully and that was followed by a quarry section (14) and 2 rock gardens (15 & 16). The final four sections were all gully sections and then there was a 3 mile ride back to the start.
Considering the restrictions in place due to COVID-19, no trials for over 3 months and a short time to organise the 2 day event, the trial seemed to run smoothly with the riders enjoying the sections and the length of the lap.
Success!
